5/19/1669 Incorporation of Westfield as a town voted on, became official on 5/28/1669.

5/31/1871 Civil War statue (between the Athenaeum and Butler’s Insurance) is dedicated. Modeled after Matthew Campbell. “Evermore may it stand guard over these homes of ours, teaching perpetual lessons of undying patriotism, heroic self sacrifice and loyalty to truth, faith, and duty.”
