Westfield 350 GeoCache

One of the Westfield 350 activities is a GeoCache that takes participants to fourteen historic places in town. At each location there will be a “cache” that contains a collectable Wooden Nickel and a log book. Each of the coins is uniquely numbered from 1 to 1000.

General Information

  1. This is not a traditional geocache. The caches are not hidden or hard to find. They are all 50 caliber ammo boxes with a large sticker of the Westfield 350 Wooden Nickels on the outside. They are all anchored to trees or poles with a bright red cable. We are trying to make it easy for everyone to get involved, see some places in Westfield that they may not have visited before, and to earn a nice Westfield 350 commemorative coin.
  2. All boxes are maintained by volunteers. If there is a problem with a box, please text 413-348-5757 with the problem. We’ll try to address it quickly.
  3. The event is planned to run for about a month – ending on Father’s Day weekend. However, if we run out of wooden nickels, we’ll end a bit earlier.
  4. Please only TAKE ONE wooden nickel per cache. For this event, you are not expected to leave any trinkets in the caches.
  5. The clues will be a mix of word scrambles, puzzles, map coordinates, and/or map links. There will be a cheatsheet for anyone who doesn’t want to do puzzles or use a GPS device. A GPS device or special GeoCaching app is not needed. However, they could be handy.
  6. Due to the nature of our event, the caches are not listed on GeoCaching.com or other similar sites or apps. Please do not list them.
